This beautiful image, taken by NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope, shows the remains of Supernova 1987A. The supernova event, recorded in February 1987, captured the light from an exploding star in a nearby galaxy called the Large Magellanic Cloud.
In the image, debris of Supernova 1987A is beginning to impact the surrounding ring of material which was expelled during the original explosion.
